Thanks for the happiness you’re bringing to those who might have disappeared into themselves, Rob.
My mom did when she lost her battle with Alzheimer’s and I didn’t know what to do, so I blocked it out and let Trina deal with it.
I was scared, whereas Trina being Trina had that kindness and inner resolve to promise my parents that they would leave here with dignity. And they did.
For bringing some joy to the Hyland family on Tuesday afternoon and especially, father and grandfather Pat Hyland and wife Maree, many thanks, Rob.

Here’s something I just remembered: When my mom kept repeating herself because Alzheimer’s was starting to take her away, she would tell everyone over and over again about betting on What A Nuisance to win the 1985 Melbourne Cup. She said that the name of the horse reminded her of my dad. Dad just sat there, shrugged his shoulders and smiled.
What A Nuisance was ridden by Pat Hyland.

Life really is a circle game.

It isn’t for the money
It isn’t for the honey
It’s for the love that’s
living in his heart
And so he sings
And entertains
Those who might have even
forgotten their names
His songs might
bring back memories
Maybe a little
bit of history
It’s all about going
that extra mile
And bringing back
someone’s missing smile
There is a lesson
to be learned from this
Life isn’t only about taking
It’s about giving, too
It’s also about
Thanking those
who do good things
without thinking
And make those
good things happen
For people just like
me and you
The world will be a
much better place
if we simply
make the time
To do just one
good thing every day
Without having to
scream about it
And do a little dance
Be like Batman and
shine a bright light
For others to see
And follow…
