THE BALLAD OF DONCASTER DAY

The weather gods were
playing games at Randwick
And there were many
different points of view
So many tipsters and analysts
Sounding like a murder of crows

Everyone saying something
Did they know what was who?
Could there actually be
too much of a good thing?
Is all this more of a
hindrance than a help?
Don’t know what’s
coming or going
And who’s gonna give in
without even a yelp?

That was thebelmontgangster
A hot favourite at Caulfield
who was only shooting blanks
Was never ever a chance
Just ran and meekly tanked
At Randwick, Rachel King
brought up a double
When New Look scored
for Bussitin and Young
Autumn Break and Killian
They fought out the fourth
It’s always good to see
Sam Clipperton have
a winning run

The Zac Attack had
temperatures rising
when he got Chidiac
first past the post
This was in the
Country Racing Finals
And another trophy
For him to grab and to hold
(And without the HKJC serial faux
photobomber in sight!)
Streisand lost her voice
and also lost her way
in the Group 1 Inglis Sires
Campione D’Italia saluted
for J-Mac and
the Waller man
Were they starting to
pump up their day?
The A Team know
exactly what they’re doing
They’re In perfect harmony
It’s teamwork at
its very best
It’s not all about
Me Me Me and Me

We need to mention
jockey Molly Bourke
who’s making Victoria her home
She rode her first metropolitan winner
When Rue de Royale
saluted at Caulfield
It was a moment that
Molly was very happy to own!

Watch this girl cos
she’s going places
And so is Angela Jones
Add Amy McLucas, Rochelle Milnes
and Holly Nottle to this list
They’re gonna be a super
league all of their own

The A Team struck at Randwick again
when the TJ Smith Stakes
went the way of
the pretty Jolie Star
And then came Sheza Alibi
Good grief what an awesome filly!
What a fabulous superstar!
With Jamie Melham
sitting on her back
She blew them all away
She made them look
kinda ordinaire and silly

Sheza Alibi was the
highlight of the day
She is something special
She’s in a class of her own
She had the Doncaster
wrapped up and in the bag
A long long way from home

Rachel King ended up
riding a treble at Randwick
And we applauded
what she achieved
But we can’t get Sheza Alibi
out of our heads
She’s different gravy
and horse racing
at its brilliant best
And that’s it really
there’s nothing more to say.
