THE EPSTEIN FILES AND THE TANG DYNASTY?

Some of us have very fond memories of Sir David Tang despite the various rumours about the “health of his wealth” and also some of those who were attracted to his amazing generosity though he was very probably keeping up pretences amongst the hoi polloi and which can be a full time job.

With many clamouring for the details of the Epstein files and the recent comedown and takedown of Prince Andrew, and how this affects Sarah Ferguson, who is still his “wife”, has brought the well known Hong Kong entrepreneur and friend of the Royal Family and his knighthood for charity work under renewed scrutiny.

It had to, but Sir David is gone and his friendship with Sarah Ferguson, who was his official and unofficial public relations person for the Shanghai Tang brand, will rear its head though one doesn’t believe there’s anything there.

The bigger story is what’s cutely referred to as the Epstein files?

Could this be making one or two famous families in Hong Kong thinking about elders no longer here and rather nervous because legacies are at stake?

During those jet setting Gordon Gekko days when Greed was good and so was even god, some people got careless.

Money bought power and power corrupts and keeps lips sealed for a certain period of grace.

These social media driven days, however, what might have happened in Hong Kong or Macau or the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia don’t stay there.

Like Pandora’s box, it’s out there like those who marry for money- no big deal- and those who marry and have children to prove they’re not who and what they are.
