The karma of being united- now.

I really didn’t know what to expect- probably nothing much- but the girls I met from Now United were friendly and fun and down to earth and not trying to be Uber popsters.

They were girls next door from different parts of the world who simply love to dance and sing and perform for audiences, which they have been doing, and are now bringing this chain reaction of positivity to Hong Kong.

Managed and brought together as Now United is Simon Fuller, the soft spoken Englishman who has, over the years, given the world everything from the “Girl Power” of the Spice Girls, hugely successful television programmes like the “Idol” franchise, product like his Academy Of Pop, and has looked after the careers of names like David Beckham, Lewis Hamilton, Andy Murray, Amy Winehouse, Carrie Underwood and Annie Lennox.
The latest lineup of the multi cultural Now United is in Hong Kong to perform at the Hong Kong Jockey Club showpiece event that is the Longines International Races Week in December.
Before this, auditions are taking place to find a new member for the group from the city.
Knowing Simon for almost two decades and having a daughter who worked for him at X1X, I doubt very much that things will end here.
He still has unfinished business started almost fifteen years ago to find China’s first Pop Princess, and has that commercial and creative mind and eye to see potential in ideas that look beyond the obvious.
In Hong Kong, he has a unique Chinese cultural pizza as his palette, and the opportunity to add various toppings that only he can.

He also has the roller deck to call on some of the biggest names in the entertainment world to create something new and exciting with him and be branded as being Made In Hong Kong.

This is very much needed at a time when some of the hardware like the new Kai Tak Stadium is already here, but what’s now needed being the software— the relevant content that answers the question, “Where’s the beef?”
As for Now United, at least for myself, the name makes one to think about how each of us, and in our own ways, can actually DO something to bring this often crackerjack crackpot world together.

This is very much needed, and perhaps something Simon is thinking about just as I am with my dormant OneTeam website that has been waiting for a raison d’etre to come alive?

He might have to navigate his way through the intricacies of giving Hong Kong what it needs as opposed to what it wants, but Simon Fuller has the experience and the business savvy to turn the bland into a brand.
Perhaps, he will give consumers something in English and Chinese and other languages that is interactive along with the keys to turn on the ignition and create things that are positive, and with the sustainability to create the pathway to a bright future for the next few generations?
At least for me, these past few years have been about investing in and passing a baton of Hope and inspiration to this generation.
Having Simon Fuller in town with the infectious positivity of Now United has shown me once again about what can be accomplished by believing, and never giving up on what can happen when karma comes knocking on the door and you let it in.
